Universal Trade Frames expands capabilities with Residence Collection fabrication

Universal Trade Frames has enhanced its manufacturing capabilities by introducing in-house fabrication of the Residence Collection.

This development follows a substantial £500,000 investment in a range of advanced manufacturing technologies, including the Haffner MAC 345 HeritageWeld CNC machining centre, which has the capacity to machine 16 profile pieces simultaneously.

Duncan Saunders, Operations Director at Universal Trade Frames, explained: “The Residence Collection represents the pinnacle of heritage-inspired PVC-U windows.

“By bringing the fabrication process in-house, we’re able to ensure stringent quality control while improving lead times for our customers. It’s a significant step forward for us.”

The Residence Collection, which includes the R9, R7, and R2 systems, combines traditional aesthetics with modern engineering.

A key feature of the collection is HeritageWeld technology, which delivers seamless 90° butt joints on both the internal and external faces of the frame. This creates an authentic timber appearance while retaining the structural integrity and durability of fully welded PVC-U windows.

“HeritageWeld allows us to offer non-glass bonded sashes, making the windows lighter and easier to install,” Duncan continued.

“This reduces installation complexity and costs while giving installers flexibility to source glass locally. It’s an innovation that provides real-world benefits to both our trade partners and their customers.”

Universal Trade Frames has been supplying the Residence Collection as a third-party product for years. However, in-house fabrication now allows the company to better align production with market demand while maintaining competitive pricing.

This addition complements Universal’s existing range of premium products, including vertical sliders, fully reversible windows, and flush casements.

“Our investment in the Haffner CNC machine positions us to meet the growing demand for premium solutions,” Duncan added.

“This machinery offers exceptional precision, ensuring the highest standards in every frame we produce. It’s part of a broader strategy to equip our facility with the tools needed for high-volume, high-quality production.”

Operating from a 30,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, Universal Trade Frames continues to invest in advanced technology and premium products, reinforcing its position as a reliable partner for the trade market.
