Universal Trade Frames sets a new standard in Scottish window supply with the in-house fabrication and dedicated distribution of the premium Residence Collection.
Universal Trade Frames has solidified its reputation as an industry leader by becoming the first company to fabricate the complete Residence Collection in Scotland.
This landmark development brings a premium flush casement range, including Residence 9, Residence 7, and Residence², directly to Scottish installers through a new, dedicated distribution service.
Expanding horizons in window manufacturing
This move reflects Universal Trade Frames’ continued investment in innovation and customer service, meeting growing demand for high-end, heritage-inspired home improvement solutions.
By manufacturing the Residence Collection in-house, the company ensures rigorous quality control and precise craftsmanship, providing products designed to excel in both aesthetics and performance.
Operating from its state-of-the-art 30,000-square-foot facility in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, Universal Trade Frames has built a reputation for delivering premium window and door solutions. The addition of the Residence Collection to its portfolio represents a significant step forward for the company and the Scottish trade.
Richard Hammond, Sales Director at Universal Trade Frames, explained: “Expanding into Scotland with the Residence Collection is a proud milestone for us. By controlling every aspect of production, we’re ensuring exceptional standards of quality and weather performance that meet the unique demands of the Scottish climate.
“HeritageWeld technology and our non-glass bonded system make the Residence Collection easier to fit, more cost-effective, and incredibly durable — a win-win for installers and homeowners alike.”
Performance without compromise
The Residence Collection is a standout in both form and function. Its heritage-inspired flush casement design provides the authentic look of timber, while innovative features deliver modern durability and energy efficiency.
Unlike traditional glass-bonded sashes, Universal Trade Frames’ non-glass bonded system offers lighter, easier-to-handle sashes, allowing installers to source glass locally for added flexibility and cost savings.
The HeritageWeld technology used in the Residence Collection produces mechanically jointed 90° butt joints for a seamless timber appearance inside and out. This innovation ensures the system meets the highest standards of design and craftsmanship while simplifying installation.
Flush casements have often been criticised for poor weather durability, but the Residence Collection defies these challenges with exceptional weather resistance:
Richard Hammond added: “Our focus has been on making life easier for installers. The lighter sashes and simplified fitting process mean a job that used to require two people can now be completed by one. This not only reduces labour costs but also increases profit margins for our customers.”
A highlight at the FIT Show 2025
Universal Trade Frames will showcase the Residence Collection at the upcoming FIT Show 2025. Attendees can explore the range’s features, including its authentic timber aesthetics, precision-engineered performance, and installer-friendly design.
The FIT Show will also serve as an opportunity to highlight the dedicated distribution service across Scotland, ensuring faster delivery times and improved support for trade professionals.
“We’re excited to bring the Residence Collection to the FIT Show,” said Richard.
“It’s the perfect platform to connect with our customers, demonstrate the product’s superior performance, and discuss how we can help them grow their business.”
More than just windows
This launch is part of Universal Trade Frames’ broader strategy to offer a comprehensive range of premium products. In addition to the Residence Collection, the company’s portfolio includes vertical sliding sash windows, fully reversible windows, and the Spectus Flush Casement.
It has also partnered with Origin to provide aluminium doors, including the OI-30 internal doors and the OB36+ bifold, French, and single external doors.
Universal Trade Frames’ expansion into Scotland underscores its commitment to delivering exceptional products and services to installers across the country.
